The SwordsmenIn this month's column we focus on Vicious Sloth Collectables label. All the Vicious Sloth releases come with their original artwork, with complete re-mastering and retail at an affordable $20 each. It Flew AwayNow let's get stuck into the music that the label has recently released. The Swordsmen's self titled album was originally released in late 1966 with a limited release of around 200 copies. This Melbourne beat group sound as if they were having a lot of fun and you wish you had been there - the album comes up a treat! It Flew Away, a Melbourne progressive outfit not unlike Spectrum with whom they performed around 1971 to 1973. This album has great guitar/keyboard passages with plenty of lyrical imagination. Jeff St John's Copperwine; Joint Effort. This release is a re-issue of the original complete album with the A and B sides of two singles from the same period (1971) added. This is St John's finest hour with a mixture of soul and blues. Cherish one of the greatest Oz vocalists that should have achieved more recognition. Hopefully this grand release will re-address this. Finally, Australia's greatest experimental guitarist Lobby Loyde, get's to have his forgotten gem re-issued. Plays with George Guitar, originally released in 1971, is a mixture of acid tinged guitar/ blues/ psychedelic. On this CD re-issue, there is the added bonus of a 1971 Wild Cherries single. Play it loud and hear why Lobby is so revered. Other titles that Vicious Sloth has re-issued that are worth your attention include Madden & Harris, Galadriel, Dave Miller and Leith Corbet, Melissa, Tymepiece, Cleves and McPhee.

Finally, Moonlight Publications (PO Box 5, Golden Square 3555) have re-issued the popular Living End magazines #1 through to #7, written by noted Australian sixties' specialist, the late Dean Mittelhauser.
