Lisa Miller
- Version Originale
Lisa Miller has what every singer strives for – a voice of her own.
Or more accurately, a vocal technique which does more than deliver
words and melody, but gives songs she sing a colour that’s her own
and a pathos special to Lisa. It comes out of a love for country
music, absorbing the classic female country singers and then stripping
away every cliché which makes you think “country” when you hear
Lisa in full flight. A lot of people fell in love with that style
on Lisa’s first two albums, and then an unusual thing happened.
Lisa fell out with her record company and decided to record a “filler”
album, not really knowing when or how it was going to be released.
It was released of course, and ‘Car Tape’, Lisa’s delightful twist
on some of her favourite songs, and that voice was discovered by
a whole new audience. This latest then, is a confident energized
Lisa Miller going back to her other skill, songwriting, giving flesh
to that voice, very real emotions to evoke and play with, yet another
step away from those earlier country roots towards something very
much her own. You don’t often hear a song dedicated to discovering
an enjoyable new record and the enthusiasm it instils. It’s the
feeling you have when you first discover Lisa Miller. Once you’ve
done that you can’t get enough. (Raoul Records/Inertia)
