Freedom Train

Edited by Ian McFarlane

Freedom Train concentrates on Australian Progressive music from the early to mid seventies.  Each issue features 3 or 4 bands, in a similar format:  an overview of the artist's career followed up by an interview with one of the integral members.

The third edition was different as it tackled a record guide of the period, a similar approach to the Australian New Music Guide.

Volume 1

McPhee, Kahvas Jute, Madder Lake, Master's Apprentices, Spectrum, Ariel, Geoff Crozier

Volume 2

Chain, Healing Force, Tamam Shud, Sebastian Hardie, Galadriel

Volume 3 [Currently out of print]

The Australian progressive Hard Rock and Blues Record Guide, 1969-1977

All A4 format, varying page sizes, Vol 1 and 2, $6 each.

Skyhooks: The Other Side

by Maria Barkla

An independent publication, that is unfortunately out of print, and I cannot convince the author to keep the book in print.  Much of the book was later used for a much more sophisticated book about the band.
