Shifter play raw, powerful energetic music.The sound has evolved over the years of performances throughout the east coast of Australia with bands such as Fugazi, You Am I, The Mark Of Cain,The Celibate Rifles, The Hellmenn and New Christs among others. Shifter create a diverse and unique wall of sound, drawing on influences ranging from sixties garage and surf music, through early punk and hardcore to Radio Birdman, Beasts of Bourban and many other seminal Australian artists.Music with guts...... Shifter have released material on two compilations and in 1998 released the 7" ep Red Tide Rider on their own label Plaidos Records.With the scheduled LP release in 2000, Shifter will be making an assault on venues far and wide co-inciding with the album release.

One of the best new Australian bands in the last 10 years, great mix of Oz Detroit, Punk Rock and Heavy rock n roll, great live, they have changed their name to Riffter, this really gets to the point, cant wait for their next record, get excitement you fuckers!!
